The art collection of North Rhine-Westphalia is based in the state capital Dusseldorf. It combines three exhibition venues: the K20 at the Grabbeplatz, the K21 on the Ständehausstraße and the Schmela-Haus in the Mutter-Ey-Straße. The collection was established in 1961 by the state government as a foundation under private law for the purpose of the public presentation.
