The Duesseldorf Kasematten form a section of the Rhine promenade in Dusseldorf's historical centre. To protect the area from flooding, the Rhine bank was moved forward and casemates were built from 1898 onwards. In the direct surroundings are several restaurants with outdoor catering as well as landing piers for passenger ships. The outdoor area has a total of 5,000 seats.
