The old synagogue, built between 1911 and 1913, was the most beautiful and largest synagogue in Germany. During the pogrom night in 1938, however, it was severely damaged inside. Since 1980, the old synagogue has been established as a memorial and in 2010 it was expanded to become a house of Jewish worship.
