On 23 April 1704, the foundation stone was laid for the Baroque-style church building. The predecessor church, the Ratgar Basilica, had to make way for this building. Fulda Cathedral was partly built on the foundations of this basilica, which was once considered the largest north of the Alps. The building was completed in 1712 and consecrated as a cathedral on 15 August of the same year. The Baroque building served as an abbey church for the Benedictines and as a burial church for St. Boniface. In 1752, the cathedral was elevated to the rank of a cathedral. Our Q-Park car parks are only a few metres' walk from the cathedral. There you can quickly and comfortably park your car for a visit.
