With its idyllic alleyways and cosy little shops and cafés, Hannover's old town is considered the city's parlour. During the Second World War, a large part of the city was destroyed. At the end of the 1950s, the pretty new old town quarter was built around the Old Market Church and the Old Town Hall, inviting visitors to take wonderful walks.
