Gewandhaus

The Gewandhaus, which was inaugurated in 1981, is a concert building on Augustusplatz.  Every year, over half a million visitors attend around 700 events. The Gewandhaus Orchestra, which is based there, is particularly well known. This orchestra is the world's largest professional orchestra and is also internationally among the leading orchestras and is also that in Germany oldest, civil concert orchestra.
