Rathaus St. Johann

The richly decorated St. Johann town hall offers a wealth of details worth seeing. It was built between 1897 and 1900 and shines in neo-Gothic splendour. The front of the town hall is decorated with sandstone figures symbolising the old trades. There is a tanner, a smelter, a farmer, a miner, a brewer and a merchant. There is also an image of St. George fighting a dragon. Every day at the same time (3:15 p.m. and 7:19 p.m.) a carillon sounds in the 54-metre-high tower of the town hall. The banqueting hall in St. Johann's Town Hall is particularly popular, with around 1000 marriages taking place there every year. The catering facilities in the Ratskeller offer a wide range of meals for up to 270 people.
