The University of Stuttgart, which has existed since 1967, is a state university. Its focus is on natural sciences, engineering, humanities and social sciences. The university currently has around 23,855 students and 5,308 employees. It is divided into ten faculties and 150 institutes. Around 71 Bachelor's degree programmes and 98 Master's degree programmes are offered. The university also runs several of its own research institutes.
